Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. David C. Harkins, who serves patients in the State of Georgia.

Dr. Harkins, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, specializes in shoulder, upper extremity, and reconstructive surgery, fracture and degenerative care, and sports medicine. He is currently in practice with Athens Orthopedic Clinic, serving patients in locations throughout the State of Georgia, including Athens Orthopedic Clinic – Loganville Surgery Center, Athens Orthopedic Clinic – Snellville Urgent Care, and Athens Orthopedic Clinic – Monroe. A 1999 graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Harkins completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri in 2004. The following year, he completed his fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic/ Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

David C. Harkins, DO, FAOAO, attended the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV, and received his medical degree in 1999. Furthermore, he conducted his orthopedic surgery residency at St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, MO (1999-2004). In addition, he completed his fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic/ Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, TX. Dr. Harkins received board certification in orthopaedic surgery from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Moreover, he attained fellowship of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO). He has served as President of the Shoulder and Elbow Section of the AOAO (2017-2018) and is currently on the Continuing Medical Education Planning Committee of the AOAO.
